The city is the object of study of different disciplines, one of those is the cinematographic narrative. Through cinema we can visit cities and discover their identities due to the social representations that the cinematographic narrative disseminates. In addition, the cinema is an eminently spatial art that lends itself to the narrative analysis of the elements that compose it. In this way, with the aim of making known how cities are narrated by the cinematographic discourse, a methodology of filmic analysis in triad has been designed to study the film from three perspectives: iconic, oral and actantial. This methodology has been applied to the film Blue Jasmine (2013), directed by Woody Allen, because represents two cities: New York and San Francisco. The results of the analysis shows the urban tale of each one and the narrative strategies used by the director to film cities.  La ciudad es objeto de estudio de diferentes disciplinas, una de ella es la narrativa cinematográfica. [EN] ToSCA is an optional and intensive technical product innovation workshop that aims to include education for innovation of constructive solutions in the grade architecture programme, by applying a didactic structure based on problem solving skills, combined with cooperative learning structures and involving an industry of the sector every edition a client. The workshop has been held annually at the Vallès School of Architecture, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, since 2007 and the results of each edition can be found at: http://www.etsav.upc.edu/assignatures/tosca. After eleven editions of ToSCA_ETSAV and one edition in TUM Munich, with a very good outcomes and by the invitation of the School of Architecture of the Francisco de Paula Santander University in Cúcuta, Colombia, we assumed, between both institutions, the challenge of internationalizing the ToSCA experience, to carry out within the Deepening Course "the ceramics in the architectural project", a first educational workshop for the innovation of technical product, suggesting the adaptability of the ToSCA methodology, in a different socio-cultural environment.http://ocs.editorial.upv.es/index.php/HEAD/HEAD18Adroer Puig, M.; Díaz Fuentes, C.; Zamora I Mestre, J. The structure of working memory during childhood: A systematic review

    Get PDF
There are many working memory (WM) models, generally formulated and developed in adults. Controversies arise as to whether such models are adequate conceptualizations of WM in children. The aim of the present study is to perform a systematic review of studies that evaluate the structure of WM during childhood. Databases (PubMed, Scopus) and article reference lists were reviewed, identifying 264 studies and including 14 in the review. These include participants between 4 and 15 years of age, with typical development, and they evaluated the structure of WM using confirmatory factor analysis. Results show that from 4 to 6 years onwards a structure composed of a domain-general executive component together with two domain-specific storage components (verbal, visuospatial) is identified, generally being the best fitting model. Limitations and potential contributions of the reported results are discussed.Fil: Vernucci, Santiago. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. Fast and efficient direct formation of size-controlled nanostructures of coordination polymers based on copper(i)-iodine bearing functional pyridine terminal ligands

We report on the direct formation of 1D nanostructures of two coordination polymers based on copper(i)-iodine double chains decorated with ethyl isonicotinate or 2-amino-5-nitropyridine as terminal ligands. The use of different reaction conditions, e.g. energy of the formation process, solvents, and/or concentration of reactants, has allowed the control of the size of the fibres and ribbons directly formed in this process going from micron- to submicron- up to nano-size. We show experiments that direct the formation of materials kinetically versus thermodynamically controlled, adjusting simple experimental parameters. Finally, a morphological study on the Cu(i)-iodine bearing 2-amino-5-nitropyridine nanofibres has confirmed their reversible molecular recognition ability towards acetic acid vapoursWe are grateful for financial support from the Spanish Ministerio de EconomĂa y Competitividad (MAT2013-46502-C2-2P, MAT2016-75883-C2-2-P, BES-2015-071534) and also to the scientific computing center (CCC) of the AutĂłnoma University of Madrid for their tim

Confirmatory factor analysis of the Spanish version of the brief-COPE in Argentine elderly people

Although the theoretical and methodological models in the study of coping have been updated several times in the last decades, they are mainly focused on the adolescent and young adult population. Thus, the first goal of this study was to investigate the latent structure of the Brief-Cope Inventory and to determine its fit in a sample of 504 Argentinian elderly adults of both genders, ranging in ages from 60 to 92 years old. The second goal was to confirm its three-dimensional structure in the collected data from the same sample. The results show that the two-factor model has the best fit for this sample. Likewise, these data ease our understanding of the factor structure behind the coping construct and highlight the active-cognitive coping profiles in the elderly adult population.Fil: Richard's, Maria Marta. Adaptive evolution is substantially impeded by Hill–Robertson interference in Drosophila

    Get PDF
Hill–Robertson interference (HRi) is expected to reduce the efficiency of natural selection when two or more linked selected sites do not segregate freely, but no attempt has been done so far to quantify the overall impact of HRi on the rate of adaptive evolution for any given genome. In this work, we estimate how much HRi impedes the rate of adaptive evolution in the coding genome of Drosophila melanogaster. We compiled a data set of 6,141 autosomal protein-coding genes from Drosophila, from which polymorphism levels in D. melanogaster and divergence out to D. yakuba were estimated. The rate of adaptive evolution was calculated using a derivative of the McDonald–Kreitman test that controls for slightly deleterious mutations. We find that the rate of adaptive amino acid substitution at a given position of the genome is positively correlated to both the rate of recombination and the mutation rate, and negatively correlated to the gene density of the region. These correlations are robust to controlling for each other, for synonymous codon bias and for gene functions related to immune response and testes. We show that HRi diminishes the rate of adaptive evolution by approximately 27%. Interestingly, genes with low mutation rates embedded in gene poor regions lose approximately 17% of their adaptive substitutions whereas genes with high mutation rates embedded in gene rich regions lose approximately 60%. We conclude that HRi hampers the rate of adaptive evolution in Drosophila and that the variation in recombination, mutation, and gene density along the genome affects the HRi effect
